How to use clAirAudient

With clAirAudient you can connect your current audio input to your current audio output. For some examples on what to use this for, check out the demos.

Before connecting, note that unpleasant acoustic feedback can happen if your input picks up audio from your output! In particular, you cannot connect the built-in microphone to the built-in speaker as this would result in strong acoustic feedback for sure.

To use an Airplay receiver like Apple TV as output, go to the iOS control center and turn on screen mirroring, as shown below for iOS 11:

1. Swipe up to get to the iOS control center, then select Screen Mirroring.

2. Choose an Airplay receiver like Apple TV.

Another way to explicitly select an audio output channel that does not involve screen mirroring (but might involve Airplay depending on the output channel) is shown below:

1. Swipe up to get to the iOS control center, then long press on Music.

2. Press the marked button.

3. Choose an audio output channel.

The selection of the current audio input and output is largely managed by iOS. You can influence that selection by plugging in and unplugging your audio devices. Usually devices that have been plugged in later take precedence over devices that have been plugged in earlier. So if one of your devices does not show up as expected as input or output, try unplugging it and plugging it in again.

The app displays the currently active input and output like this:

If there are multiple audio input possibilities available on your iOS device, the Input label changes its color as shown below, and you can toggle through them by pressing Input:

Once you are satisfied with the current selection of audio input and output, press CONNECT, and you are done. The audio from your input source is now streaming to the current audio output channel:

You can switch to other apps and leave clAirAudient running in the background. It will disconnect automatically if the current audio input or output channel changes. You can also always disconnect manually simply by pressing DISCONNECT.
